Today we headed north from our campsite toward the northern inlet where we were just too early to cross without getting our feet wet, so decided to return the way we came and head to the Village of Yeppoon.

The walk along the beach is quite something, turquoise waters specked with white caps from the easterly cooling breeze, leading your gaze out across the Kepple Isles Bay to the subtropical islands at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.
This weekend saw the Kepple Bay Sailing Club Regatta take to the waters, filling the bay with sailing craft of all sizes. Quite a sight and great to see people of all ages getting involved.

The walk to Yeppoon is very easy, with flat firm sand underfoot when the tide is out. When you arrive in town there’s a choice of cafes for that cold drink and respite from the hot Queensland sun.
Returning to camp, we took the boardwalk along the foreshore where the rebuild after a fairly recent cyclone in the region has brought Yeppoon some pretty impressive public spaces; a fantastic lagoon pool, an amphitheatre, kids adventure waterpark and numerous BBQ areas are on offer.

All in all, a great leisurely walk with some really special views across the bay.
